ACS CAN, Coalition Partners Call on Vanity Fair to Stop Glamorizing Tobacco on Its Pages

May 15, 2026

In a letter to Vanity Fair Global Editorial Director Mark Guiducci, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), alongside the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Truth Initiative, and Vital Strategies, expressed strong disappointment with a recent cover photo depicting Kylie Jenner lighting a cigarette. The organizations emphasized that influential media outlets like Vanity Fair should not glamorize tobacco use, a leading preventable cause of death in the United States, responsible for more than 490,000 deaths each year. The coalition urged the magazine to eliminate all depictions of tobacco and nicotine products from its content.
