Currently all cancer cases throughout the state are reported to the Louisiana Tumor Registry. If funding is cut, doctors will no longer be able to collaborate on the cases of cancer in Louisiana. The state would also be jeopardizing the funding that it receives from the National Cancer Institute to continue its work. Occurrences of cancer would no longer be accurately reported throughout the state, which would seriously impact cancer cluster investigations.
