ACS CAN will work with policymakers to plan, implement and evaluate HEAL priority issues:
Establish science-based nutrition standards for all foods and beverages sold or served in schools.
Increase the quantity and improving the quality of physical education in K-12 schools, supplemented by additional school-based physical activity.
Increase funding for policy, scientific and population-based research and interventions focused on improving nutrition, increasing physical activity and reducing obesity, with the ultimate goal of reducing cancer risk.
Support and evaluate sugar-sweetened beverage taxes that meet ACS CAN’s policy criteria.
Secure funding for infrastructure and programs aimed at increasing physical activity in transportation and recreation.
Establish nutrition guidelines for foods and beverages provided or sold in government buildings.
