We had some BIG WINS in Ohio in 2019

December 30, 2019

With the help of advocates like you, we accomplished a great deal in Ohio this year:

  • Ohio Cancer Action Day Volunteers helped expand eligibility for Ohio’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program as well as increase funding, which will result in more women having access to life saving screenings such as mammograms and PAP tests.
  • You helped protect $12 million/year allocation to the Ohio Tobacco Control program in the 2020-2021 Biennial budget, which will help prevent children from starting to smoke and help adults quit.
  • And you repeatedly messaged Ohio leadership on Tobacco 21, helping accomplish the passage of Tobacco 21 in Ohio, which will increase the statewide age of sale of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from 18-21.

These wins are an example of the work ACS CAN does to improve the lives of cancer patients and survivors and leverage the power of government to end suffering and death from cancer.

We invite you to be part of Ohio’s future success in our 2020 the fight against cancer and join our team for Cancer Action Day, May 14 at the Ohio State House.
