CONCORD — If Massachusetts becomes the first state in the nation to ban menthol-flavored cigarettes, backers and opponents both say it will likely boost sales in New Hampshire.

The Massachusetts House recently approved legislation to ban all flavored cigarettes, tobacco and vaping products. Some political observers in Boston believe the state Senate will follow suit before lawmakers head off for a holiday recess later this week.

Meanwhile, a two-term, Democratic lawmaker from Freedom has proposed a bill for New Hampshire in 2020 to ban the sale of all flavored vaping products.
