ACS CAN Ohio urges lawmakers to vote no on Senate Bill 17

February 22, 2021

Ohio lawmakers are set to hear testimony about the impact work requirements could have on low-income patients enrolled in Medicaid.

Read ACS CAN’s testimony here about how this proposal could affect cancer patients and survivors.

ACS CAN is deeply troubled by any proposal that would make Medicaid coverage contingent on work and related administrative reporting requirements. Cancer is a complex medical condition, often forcing patients or recent survivors to stop working. So, we oppose work reporting requirements that will limit access to health insurance coverage for countless cancer patients and survivors. Rather than placing new barriers to care and increasing state bureaucracy, we urge lawmakers to spend more time improving access to affordable coverage.

In the coming days, we will need your help to make sure Ohio lawmakers understand the impact this dangerous proposal could have on the fight against cancer.
