Kansas Cancer Action Day at the Capitol

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
Jayhawk Tower
700 SW Jackson St # A
Topeka, KS 66603

For Kansans facing cancer, not having health insurance is a life or death situation. Health insurance through Medicaid allows Kansans to detect cancer early and access the treatments needed to save their lives. But here in Kansas, our lawmakers have chosen not to join the 36 other states that have expanded eligibility to their Medicaid programs, leaving hundreds of thousands of our friends and neighbors uninsured and without an affordable option for coverage. Studies show that uninsured cancer patients are 50% more likely to die than cancer patients who have insurance. It’s time for Kansas to expand Medicaid and we’re joining forces to call on our lawmakers to pass this lifesaving legislation this session. You can help make it happen by showing up, sharing your story, and fighting for cancer patients and survivors all across our state.

Join the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Lung Association, Susan G. Komen, and Gilda’s Club for Kansas Cancer Action Day at the Capitol on February 4, 2020! We’ll start the day with an issue and advocacy training. After a free lunch, you’ll have meetings with your legislators to talk to them about how important Medicaid expansion is to people with cancer and their families. If you’re traveling from over an hour away, we’ll provide you with hotel accommodations the night before. Questions? Contact ACS CAN Kansas Grassroots Manager, Christina Cowart at [email protected].
