It’s been ten years since the FDA was given the mandate from Congress to fully regulate the tobacco industry and tasked with the critical responsibility of protecting the health of our nation. And still, the FDA has not fulfilled its mission to reduce the deadly toll of tobacco use.
CDC Launches Second Phase of Tips Campaign
In a post earlier this month, I hinted that the CDC would be launching a new set of ads for its Tips from Former Smokers campaign. The campaign is aimed at educating the public about the harmful effects of smoking and the difficulty of living with a medical condition caused by smoking. The first phase was highly successful at encouraging a significant increase in quit attempts and calls to Quit Lines. The second phase of the ads were officially announced this morning, and will be seen nationally beginning April 1.
