Crafting for Lights of Hope

Like many of you, I seek Lights of Hope donations through social media, neighbors, coworkers, and former supporters. But I realized I needed to find my own unique niche — something I truly enjoy and that others seem to appreciate as well: handmade crafts. Crafting has also become a beautiful way to honor the craftiest caregiver I’ve ever known — my mother — who sadly passed away from cancer in 2007.

Patti has been an exceptional volunteer for Team Nevada, as a breast cancer survivor, Patti has taken her journey and research scientist background to continuously support ACS CAN. As an ACT Lead for her district, she has made it her mission to remain in front of her federal legislators to champion programs and gain support for cancer initiatives such as MCED. Patti has also been a leader in her fundraising efforts for Lights of Hope. Always leading the state in revenue while planning for the next opportunity. Patti's LOH equestrian event has become a must attend for Southern Nevada.

Marshall Chisare Ndhlovu brings extraordinary heart and purpose to his role as an ACS CAN Legislative Ambassador. After losing his father to multiple myeloma at just 50, Marshall has transformed his grief into powerful advocacy. An immigrant from Zimbabwe who came to the U.S. at 18 with only $10, he has built an inspiring life of resilience — becoming a U.S. citizen, graduating from Drake University, and conquering law school.

Lights of Hope on the Capitol steps in Madison

On October 15 th , dozens of cancer advocates gathered on the steps of the Wisconsin state capitol at the end of a powerful day of advocacy. 400 Lights of Hope were displayed, representing survivors, thrivers, caregivers, and those we’ve lost. ACS CAN volunteer leaders addressed the crowd and shared why they advocate and turn hope into action.
