Gov. Paterson has signed "The Palliative Care Patient Information Act," strongly backed by the American Cancer Society, which is designed to give patients and their families more control over critical treatment decisions, and over pain and palliative care options.

On Tuesday, the House returned to Washington, DC during their August recess to vote on the six-month extension of FMAP funding. The federal funding will protect state health programs and benefits for low-income cancer patients and families across the country.
