ANNAPOLIS - Today, Gov. Larry Hogan will enact two measures that will protect Maryland’s youth from increased risk of cancer.

Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe recently recognized Springfield resident Jerry Neville for his volunteer work with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Neville received the Senior Service Award at a ceremony at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on Monday, May 6.

The vote reaffirms the importance of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. 

Trey Gibson who lost his 10-year-old daughter, Emilie, to cancer spoke on the steps of the state capitol about the need for palliative care throughout Louisiana as part of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s (ACS CAN) annual Day at the Capitol in Baton Rouge.

Local American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteer and Evansville resident Kim Fredrickson will join more than 100 other cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, physicians and researchers representing over 50 cancer organizations in Washington, D.C., to urge lawmakers to prioritize the fight against cancer.
