Dr. Christina Annunziata, the Senior Vice President of Extramural Discovery Science at the American Cancer Society, testified today before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Health in support of the Screening for Communities to Receive Early and Equitable Needed Services (SCREENS) for Cancer Act and the Women and Lung Research and Preventive Services Act.

Cancer Patients, Survivors Rally Support for Reduced Out-of-Pocket Drug Costs

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH– February 2, 2024 –Dozens of cancer survivors, patients, providers, and caregivers rallied at the state capitol Friday, asking lawmakers to support a bill to reduce out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Utahns. SB 152, sponsored by Rep. Curtis Bramble, was the focus of ‘Utah Cancer Action Day,’ an event hosted annually by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).

25 Patient and Provider Groups Urge Supreme Court to Preserve FDA Authority

Our 25 organizations, representing patients with serious health conditions and providers who care for them, urge the Supreme Court to reverse the Fifth Circuit’s decision in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine et al. v FDA et al. because it threatens patients’ and providers’ ability to rely on Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decisions about drug safety.

New Report Illustrates Important Role of Medicare Program in Saving Lives from Cancer

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) released a new report today, Cancer in Medicare: An American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Chartbook, to illustrate how the Medicare program serves patients across the cancer continuum as well as specific public policy recommendations to improve and strengthen the program. Given an individual’s cancer risk increases with age, Medicare plays a key role in reducing suffering and death from cancer.
