Our annual Connecticut lobbying event is going virtual. Join us for our Flavors Hook Kids Connecticut Action Day on Tuesday, March 23.
While the event may be virtual this year, it still will look much like our Day at the Capitol or Lobby Day from previous years including advocacy training and lawmaker meetings, but you'll find some new and exciting activities for all to join in. And once again ACS CAN will be partnering with the American Lung Association and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
This year we will be asking lawmakers to end the sale of ALL flavored tobacco products.
Here is what to expect:
Pre-Event Training: March 16 6:30-7:30 PM
If you are new to advocacy or you have been attending this event for years, this required pre-event training will help you prepare for your meetings with lawmakers. We will cover the asks as well as the logistics of the virtual event. Details on how to join will be emailed to all register participants.
Event Kickoff: March 23 9:00- 10:00 AM
Hear from advocates and lawmakers as we kickoff our Action Day.
Lawmaker Meetings: March 23 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
We will schedule zoom meetings for you, your lawmakers and other advocates from your district.
Black Lives Black Lungs Screening: March 25 7:00-8:00 PM
To wrap up our event we will be screening the short documentary Black Lives Black Lungs, that looks at how Big Tobacco has directly targeted black communities with menthol.
There is no cost to attend this event, but registration is required. The registration deadline is Thursday, March 11th.
