2017 End of Session Report

May 10, 2017

Volunteers from across the state attended our 2017 ACS CAN Day at the Capitol on January 30th. As a result, we saw easy passage of the Idaho Med-Synchronization Rule, which allows Idahoans to synchronize their prescription pick-up, eliminating the need for multiple visits to a pharmacy.

We also successfully advocated for nearly $200,000 from the Millennium Fund for the American Cancer Society to provide public outreach about cancer screening services in rural parts of our state at low to no cost.

ACS CAN supported a coalition that landed a key hearing on a proposal to increase the age of sale for tobacco products from 18 to 21, which would potentially save thousands of lives. While the bill didn't pass out of committee, we are optimistic about this Tobacco 21 campaign looking ahead to 2018.

We are so fortunate to represent and work beside you in the halls of government. You are an essential part of our team working every day to improve the lives of all Idahoans. We look forward to connecting with you personally and hearing your story, which can make a huge impact on your elected officials.

Together we'll keep working to eliminate cancer and make Idaho a healthier place to live.
