The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the budget bill that cuts Medicaid and makes health insurance costs more expensive for everyone as soon as the week of June 23rd. We need your help to try to protect Medicaid and affordable health care. Please take these four actions:
- SEND YOUR U.S. SENATOR AN EMAIL VIA OUR ACTION ALERT Use this link to send an email to your U.S. Senator and ask them to vote NO on the budget bill that cuts Medicaid.
- CALL YOUR U.S. SENATOR Use this link to call your U.S. Senator to ask them to vote NO on the budget bill that cuts Medicaid.
- TAG YOUR U.S. SENATOR ON SOCIAL More than 99% of Congress is active on X, and we know they and their staff are paying attention. It’s an important platform to let your members of Congress know what you need from them. If you don’t use X, you can still post on other social media channels. The cost of health care is already too high for too many. The bill that passed the House would terminate health care for millions & raise health care costs for us all. [insert lawmaker handle], I'm urging you to vote NO on these attacks. #ProtectMedicaid #ProtectAffordableCare
- DROP BY YOUR U.S. SENATOR’S OFFICE WITH MEDICAID FACT SHEETS AND HELP US VISIT EVERY SENATE OFFICE IN THE COUNTRY Work with your Grassroots Manager to print Medicaid fact sheets and a Protect Medicaid ad, write a personal note on why protecting Medicaid is important to you, and drop this off at your Senator’s office. Take a photo of you at the office and amplify this on social media. After you have taken this action let us know by filling out the report back form

Document section:
Document 1: Medicaid Cuts & the Workforce
This document explains that Medicaid is health insurance for low-wage workers who aren't offered coverage through their job and can't afford private health insurance. The document lists out several ways Medicaid is a resource to workers as well as how Medicaid cuts will eliminate jobs and halt economic growth.
Document 2: The Real Cost of Cutting Medicaid
This document explains that rushing cuts to Medicaid will hurt those who can least aford care and won't do anything to lower health care costs.
Document 3: Medicaid work requirements jeopardize access to care for cancer patients and survivors
Each one-pager touches on work requirements, but this document exclusively explains how work requirements create unreasonable barriers to care making it harder for cancer patients and survivors to recover and stay health enough to work. 92% of workign age individuals with Medicaid coverage are either workers, caregivers, students or unable to work due to illness.
This one-pager details issues with work requirements, cost sharing and explains why we oppose reductions to retroactive coverage.
