Washington Voters Pass Big Soda-Funded Initiative 1634

OLYMPIA, Wash.—Washington voters passed Initiative 1634, which removes local control and eliminates the ability for local governments to pass sugary drink taxes to benefit their communities. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network opposed this initiative.

Senator Patty Murray Receives National Distinguished Advocacy Award for Championing Lifesaving Cancer Public Policy

U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) received the National Distinguished Advocacy Award, the most esteemed award presented by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) for her dedication to protecting patient access to adequate and affordable health care coverage, increasing federal cancer research funding and her career-long support for policies and programs intended to end death and suffering from cancer.
