After years of watching Congress and President Bush cut or level fund cancer research, the cancer community determined it was time for a new approach to funding the war on cancer. ACS CAN, in collaboration with the One Voice Against Cancer coalition, has worked with key Members of Congress to introduce a bill establishing a National Cancer Fund.

We are pleased to announce two smoke-free wins last night: Columbus, Indiana - The Columbus City Council passed a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance, which covers bars, restaurants and workplaces.ξ The ordinance will go into effect on June 1, 2013. Brownsville, Texas - Congratulations to these two communities on their wins!

On September 10, we honored cancer survivors and remembered those lost to cancer at our 2019 Lights of HOPE ceremony in Washington, D.C. More than 40,000 Lights of Hope bearing the names of those touched by cancer circled the Reflecting Pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
