COLUMBIA, S.C. – November 30, 2023 – As North Carolina expands Medicaid December 1, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) calls on South Carolina lawmakers to offer the same benefits to the people of the Palmetto State.
Cancer Advocates Convene at State House Ahead of Senate Medicaid Vote
CONCORD – Earlier today, dozens of cancer patients, survivors, healthcare providers and other gathered the State House to urge New Hampshire lawmakers to vote in support SB 263, reauthorizing the Granite Advantage Health Care Program.
Today’s event was part of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) annual Cancer Action Day. Tomorrow, the Senate will hold a floor vote on the legislation.
“We hope lawmakers heard our advocates loud and clear today: “Reauthorizing Medicaid expansion will provide a lifeline to many Granite Staters, including the nearly 10,000 people in our state who will be diagnosed with cancer in 2023,” said Mike Rollo, New Hampshire director of government relations for ACS CAN.
“Providing hard-working, low-income New Hampshire residents access to adequate and affordable healthcare is one of the most effective ways to prevent and detect cancer early, treat cancer effectively, and bolster the quality of life for patients enduring cancer treatment,” he continued.
“We urge New Hampshire Senators to vote in support of SB 263 and ensure more Granite Staters can get access to the care they need, including cancer treatment and potentially lifesaving preventative screenings,” said Rollo.
