Protecting Funding for the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Program

Louisiana has the 32nd highest incidence rate and the second highest death rate of breast cancer and has both the 6th highest incidence and death rate of cervical cancer in the United States. Currently 177,000 women are eligible for cervical cancer screenings and 79,500 women are eligible for breast cancer screenings through the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Program.

Funding the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Program will help to provide low-income, uninsured and underinsured women with access to breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services. By maintaining funding through the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program, an estimated 11,000 women will receive potentially life saving screening this year.
