Nomination Procedure

Nominations must be submitted no later than Thursday, July 24, 2025. 

A biography and formal rationale must be submitted with each nomination. 

An ACS CAN volunteer-led awards workgroup will review nominations and select the award winners from among the nominees in accordance with the nomination criteria. 

Appropriate personnel will be notified after the award winners have been selected. The award will be presented at an ACS CAN event or at another time of significance to ACS CAN or the recipient as appropriate.

Award Purpose

The National Distinguished Advocacy Award (NDAA) is the highest national advocacy honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) and is the mark of distinction and accomplishment in the field of public policy advocacy pertaining to cancer.

Nomination Criteria

Nominees for the NDAA are individuals (including lawmakers or public officials) or organizations that have demonstrated support of the Society and ACS CAN's shared mission through impactful leadership or significant advocacy on a state or national level.
