Oregon City Supports Statewide Ban on Flavored Tobacco Products
OREGON CITY, OR — Oregon City has taken a stand against flavored tobacco products by passing a resolution on Wednesday that calls for an end to their sale.
On election day, voters in South Dakota overwhelmingly cast their ballots in favor of a comprehensive statewide smoke-free law. The new law will extend a restriction on indoor smoking to include all bars, restaurants, casinos and video lottery establishments, and give every worker the right to breathe smoke-free air on the job. Of particular note, South DakotaÈs 100 percent smoke-free law includes all state regulated gaming facilities, making it the16th state, along with Puerto Rico, to have done so. The law will take effect November 10 following the Secretary of StateÈs certification of election results.
Local smoke-free ballot measures were also approved by voters in San Angelo, TX; Fulton, MO; and Jefferson City, MO. San Angelo and Fulton will go into effect on December 3 and Jefferson City will go into effect on February 2, 2011. When they take effect, all new local ordinances will cover 100% workplaces and restaurants and bars.
