Maine State Lead Ambassador

Jeff Bennett

ME volunteerJeff Bennett has been involved with ACS CAN since 2010. In 2016, he won the Sandra C. Larabee ACSCAN New England Volunteer Values Award. As a cancer survivor, Jeff has made it a personal mission to use his story to effect change. Jeff lives in Portland and is an International Trade Specialist. When not volunteering with ACS CAN, Jeff also volunteers with the LIVESTRONG Foundation and Imerman Angels.

Why are you a cancer advocate?

I believe in the ‘obligation of the cured.’ That is the idea that those of us who survive a cancer diagnoses have an obligation to help others do the same.

What is your proudest accomplishment as an ACS CAN volunteer?

My proudest accomplishments include testifying before the State Commission on Cancer and sharing the work within the state of ACSCAN, my personal story, and how together we can make an impact for everyone touched by cancer.

Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?

Others in my community should get involved because, this year alone, over 8,600 Mainers will hear the words “you have cancer.”
