Kansas State Representative Dan Hawkins Wins Top ACS CAN Award

State Representative Dan Hawkins from Kansas was presented the 2016 National Distinguished Advocacy Award by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) on September 14, 2016. Representative Hawkins was the sponsor and champion of a bill that prohibits minors from using tanning beds in Kansas. Because of Representative Hawkins’ tireless devotion to enacting this cancer-prevention policy, lives will be saved in Kansas.

The National Distinguished Advocacy Award (NDAA) is the highest national advocacy honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM (ACS CAN) and is the mark of distinction and accomplishment in the field of public policy advocacy pertaining to cancer. Other recipients of 2016 award for their leadership in reducing the burden of cancer were Senator Susan Collins (ME), Senator Tammy Baldwin (WI) and Governor Asa Hutchison (AR).
