Big news! Congress passed the FY2022 funding bill
After months of delays, Congress passed a budget bill that includes an increase in funding for cancer research.
The bill includes a $2.25 billion increase for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including a $353 million increase for the National Cancer Institute (NCI). It also provides $1 billion to create the Advanced Research Projects Agency on Health (ARPA-H), a new program dedicated to accelerating the pace of biomedical research for rare and difficult to treat diseases, including cancer.
We know this funding is long overdue and desperately needed. We need scientists in their labs continuing their lifesaving research to find new cancer treatments and new cures.
Thousands of ACS CAN volunteers from across the country raised their voices and helped make this happen. Take a victory lap and share this win on Facebook with your networks TODAY.
This is a big step, and we are thankful that Congress has voted to pass this bill. We’ll have another chance to convince Congress to maintain this momentum and vote for another increase in funding when they start negotiating this year’s budget bill.
