Across the country during August, ACS CAN volunteers were making sure members of Congress heard loud and clear that fighting cancer must be a national priority.
From leading public rallies to delivering tens of thousands of petitions directly to lawmaker offices, our volunteers were highly visible, always enthusiastic and, of course, very impactful.

In Oklahoma, volunteers not only dropped off huge stacks of petitions to Senator James Lankford, but also invited and spoke to reporters right outside the front door of the senator’s office.
And volunteers in Wisconsin took advantage of House speaker Paul Ryan being at the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event. They handed a big stack of petitions to the Speaker and his aide, and asked him very specific questions about cancer issues.
There was also a Rally For Research in Connecticut, where volunteers drew a great crowd and got even more people to sign petitions.

And that’s just a small sample of the incredible work conducted by our volunteers.
