ACSí Se Puede works to reduce cancer disparities in Hispanic/Latino communities and guides ACS CAN’s initiatives and campaigns through increasing awareness, strengthening partnerships, influencing public policy priorities, diversifying messaging and materials, and recruiting and engaging volunteers that reflect the unique heritages, cultural backgrounds, and lived experiences of our diverse communities.

Hispanic/Latina women have the highest incidence of cervical cancer compared to other races/ethnicities, 32% higher than non-Hispanic White women.

Legislation aimed at increasing access to breast and cervical cancer screening was introduced today in the U.S. Senate. The bipartisan Screening for Communities to Receive Early and Equitable Needed Services (SCREENS) for Cancer Act would reauthorize the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) for fiscal years 2026 through 2030.

New federal legislation that would make it easier for all cancer patients to participate in clinical trials was introduced today in the House of Representatives. Sponsored by U.S. Reps. Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.) and August Pfluger (R-Texas), the Clinical Trial Modernization Act would help remove cost and geographic hurdles that prevent patients from participating in clinical trials.

Members of the newly formed Arizona Cancer Action Caucus held their inaugural meeting Wednesday afternoon at the state capitol to discuss ways to combat the disease in the state. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) helped form the caucus, which consists of a bipartisan group of seven state lawmakers. All members have been touched by cancer, including some who are survivors.
