Nevada Breast Cancer Survivor Recognized by Clark County for Advocacy Work During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 20, 2026

ACS CAN Nevada Volunteer On Tuesday, Tammy Moyle, Las Vegas resident, breast cancer survivor and lead volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) was honored by the Clark County Commission for her tireless advocacy on behalf of cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and families across Nevada.

“Breast cancer has been one of the hardest journeys of my life, but it has also given me the opportunity to meet incredible people and serve my community in meaningful ways,” said Moyle. “Years ago, someone else’s advocacy for cancer research helped save my life. Today, I advocate in hopes of making that same difference for others – not just now, but for generations to come.”

Moyle, mother of three, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, though her advocacy work began long before her diagnosis.

Each year, she leads a group of Nevada volunteers to Washington, D.C. where they meet directly with members of the state’s congressional delegation to advocate for specific policies that help fight cancer.

In 2025, Moyle urged Nevada’s delegation to co-sponsor the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) Screening Coverage Act, which was later passed by Congress with bipartisan support. The policy created a pathway to ensure timely Medicare coverage of new, innovative, multi-cancer screening tests, once FDA approved and clinical benefit is shown, helping expand access to early detection.

In September, Moyle and fellow volunteers met with congressional staff to advocate for increased federal funding for cancer research and prevention as well as expanded access to clinical trials, particularly for people living in rural areas.

At the state level, she has also worked with lawmakers to strengthen tobacco prevention, increase access to biomarker testing and protect access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare.

“Tammy’s work with ACS CAN extends far beyond her personal diagnosis and journey with breast cancer,” said Latoschka Nether, ACS CAN Sr. Nevada Grassroots Advocacy Manager. “It is our honor and privilege to recognize her survivorship, unwavering commitment, and dedication to advancing ACS CAN’s cancer policies and initiatives, while continuing to support the community that proudly honors her today.”

Tuesday’s recognition was held to also commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is recognized nationwide each October.
