FARGO, North Dakota — September 25 — Fargo native Ben Hanson has joined the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) as the government relations director for North Dakota and South Dakota. In this role, Hanson will lead ACS CAN’s efforts in the states to advance legislation and public policies to reduce cancer.

“Cancer has touched all of our lives, and I’m excited to do my part helping produce public policy and education focused on prevention that will save lives from this horrible disease,” Hanson said. “Cancer diagnoses have had a devastating, direct impact on my family as they have for so many North Dakota and South Dakota families. I look forward to working with our local elected officials, business leaders, volunteers, and community partners across our states to help reduce suffering and death from cancer in both North Dakota and South Dakota.

Hanson comes to ACS CAN from previous roles at the United Way of Cass-Clay and Microsoft in addition to the commercial real estate industry and previously served in the North Dakota State House.
