Washington, D.C., – September 17, 2025 – Susan Harbin was recognized as the country’s top government relations professional by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in honor of her exceptional work advocating for cancer-fighting public policies.
ACS CAN presents the award to a staff person who has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in the areas of advocacy and public policy.
“Susan is an incredibly resourceful team member who has delivered significant impact by strengthening and adapting ACS CAN’s capacity and strategic campaigns in Florida,” said Lisa Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. “She established herself as a champion for all those impacted by this disease and deftly represents their voices and experiences when leading successful public policy advocacy campaigns.”
Susan Harbin has served as ACS CAN’s Senior Government Relations Director in Florida for nearly five years.
“Susan has a true gift for translating complex policy language into digestible, actionable insights that empower volunteers to speak with confidence and clarity,” said Paul Hull, Vice President of Regional Advocacy at ACS CAN. “Susan doesn’t just lead from the front, she brings everyone with her, making sure every volunteer feels informed, empowered, and essential to the process.”
The award was presented on Sept. 17 as part of the annual ACS CAN Leadership Summit and Lobby Day. Nearly 700 cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones met with their elected officials to urge them to prioritize cancer research and prevention programs, along with other proven cancer-fighting policies, highlighting the real-life impact these investments have on patients, families and communities nationwide.
