Kansas Legislature Should Be Expanding Access To Health Care
TOPEKA, Kan. – “As lawmakers end the legislative session, volunteer advocates have worked to inform lawmakers about the importance of Medicaid as a cancer-fighting tool.
DES MOINES, Iowa – “Iowa has the 2nd highest cancer rates in the country, and our cancer incidence continues to rise year over year. The state legislature’s vote to restrict access to the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for minors will make our cancer crisis worse. Childhood vaccinations are a powerful tool in preventing viruses that cause cancer. Up to 90% of cervical cancers can be prevented through HPV vaccination. Decades of data have shown that HPV vaccination is safe, and cervical cancer rates have decreased by 69% among young women who were the first group of individuals to have access to the HPV vaccine as children. Governor Reynolds should veto this bill.”
