Kansas Legislature Should Be Expanding Access To Health Care
TOPEKA, Kan. – “As lawmakers end the legislative session, volunteer advocates have worked to inform lawmakers about the importance of Medicaid as a cancer-fighting tool.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – January 12, 2026 – Today, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster released his 2026 budget, which included $350 million for a new facility at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. In response, Beth Johnson, regional government relations director with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), released the following statement:
“We thank Gov. Henry McMaster for including $350 million to improve MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in his 2026 budget. Hollings Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated hospital in South Carolina and we are very fortunate to have it here, serving patients from all 46 counties and broadening rural health care access.
“The best way to maximize access to care is to maximize the number of people who have health insurance. We hope the Governor and General Assembly will continue to increase access to health care in South Carolina by joining 40 other states to close the health care coverage gap and expand access to health insurance through Medicaid. Expanding access to health insurance will ensure everyone can screen for, detect, treat and survive cancer.”
