Washington, D.C. – August 10, 2010 – “Families affected by cancer are applauding Congress today for helping to guarantee access to lifesaving health care for the country’s most economically vulnerable families by extending the enhanced Medicaid match.
“With millions of Americans now out of work and without health insurance coverage, and most states facing serious pressure to cut public health funding, Medicaid’s safety net is needed now more than ever.
“The extension of federal funds will ensure that community health programs and other local safety net programs will continue to be available to cancer patients, survivors and other Americans battling chronic diseases.
“Through extensive grassroots efforts over the past several weeks, ACS CAN volunteers placed more than 9,000 calls to lawmakers, urging them to approve the extension of funds to help eliminate barriers to care.”
