Advocates Call on Lawmakers to Reduce the Burden of Tobacco
As the 2026 legislative session gets underway, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network urges legislators to prioritize easing the burden of cancer in Michigan.

CANCER ADVOCATES URGE STATEWIDE ‘TOBACCO 21’ LEGISLATION – April 17, 2018 – American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteers Roger Crawford, of Washington, and Simona White, of Springfield, deliver more than 2,000 petitions to the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield on Tuesday, April 17. Illinoisans who signed the petitions urged their lawmakers to increase the statewide minimum age for tobacco sales to 21 years old. Currently, three million Illinoisans live in communities that have “Tobacco 21” laws.
