April 1, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.—  The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) announces two new members alongside newly-elected leadership officers to the Board of Directors for 2026. The Board provides leadership and guidance for ACS CAN, the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, which supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

"We are proud to welcome two distinguished advocates, both with long histories of advocating for cancer patients with the American Cancer Society and ACS CAN, to our Board of Directors," said Shane Jacobson, CEO of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and the American Cancer Society. "Our mission to advocate for evidence-based public policies to reduce the cancer burden for everyone will be bolstered by the steadfast dedication, passion and expertise these leaders bring with them.”

Vince Marchetta – Ohio: After the loss of his wife Betsy to metastatic cervical cancer, Marchetta channeled his grief into a lifelong mission to fight cancer.

Marchetta previously served as the lead volunteer for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District and became the lead volunteer for the state of Ohio in 2025, taking on the role of State Lead Ambassador. He received ACS CAN’s prestigious State Lead Ambassador of the Year Award in 2025 in recognition of his efforts to help make cancer a national priority. He is passionate about changing the trajectory of cancer and making sure that no one hears the words 'There is no cure,' ever again.

Roberto García Rodríguez – Puerto Rico: As a longtime health care executive and cancer advocate, García Rodríguez founded the Puerto Rico chapter of CEOs Against Cancer in 2015 and chaired the chapter until 2023.

García Rodríguez recently retired as the president and chief executive officer of Triple-S Management Corporation, the BlueCross BlueShield affiliate in Puerto Rico. Over the last 3 decades, he has served on numerous nonprofit boards of directors including Medicaid and Medicare Advantage Products Association of Puerto Rico.

“ACS CAN looks forward to an impactful year of cancer advocacy in close partnership with our Board of Directors, particularly with the newly added expertise and influence of Vince Marchetta and Roberto García Rodríguez We thank them for their commitment to the organization’s lifesaving mission,” said Lisa Lacasse, President of ACS CAN.

The ACS CAN Board of Directors consists of 19 members who work in partnership with ACS CAN and American Cancer Society CEO, Shane Jacobson, and ACS CAN President, Lisa Lacasse to drive impact on behalf of families impacted by cancer.
