Letter: Bill supports biomarker testing
This letter originally ran in the Lincoln Journal Star.
Having trouble sleeping at night?ξ Well, then you must not be on the ACS CAN policy team.
We've heard from lots of volunteers about our efforts in health care reform.ξ That includes Becky from Arizona who asked us very pointedly if we had read the bills.
The answer - absolutely yes.ξ ACS CAN's policy team has read all 1,881 pages of the three major pieces of legislation that have been introduced so far.ξ And that doesn't even include all the amendments they've reviewed.
So, when we report that there are provisions in these bills that would be good for cancer patients, we're not just guessing or drawing conclusions based on media reports. It's because our policy team has carefully reviewed the legislation and provided a science-based analysis of their outcomes.
There are certainly more than three proposals out there and we do not claim to have read every word of every proposal.ξ But, we have read every page of three bills that are being most discussed and debated in Congress.
Looking for a good read?ξ Feel free to join our policy team "book" club. Below are the bill numbers and links.ξ Enjoy!
