"Well I guess she's just going to die isn't she."

September 29, 2009

Imagine getting that response from a hospital staff person after telling her you can't afford the cancer treatment that the doctor recommended for your wife.

Even worse, imagine the reason you can't afford that treatment is because you were denied by every insurance company you called due to a pre-existing condition.

And, for the truly tragic part of this story, imagine that your wife dies because a lack of health insurance meant the cancer was caught late and since you didn't have a few hundred thousand dollars handy, she never got the treatment that might have saved her life.

Now, you know the life of Dan Brodrick. His story is featured in ACS CAN's new television ad. Still not sure we need health care reform?

You can watch the ad on our home page - fightcancer.org - and on our You Tube channel - youtube.com/acscan. Watch the ad and then read or watch some of the other stories of regular people - many of who were employed and even insured - whose health insurance failed them when they needed it the most ... to battle cancer.

When it comes to health care reform, we need to put patients over politics.ξ We need action now, not later.
