Governor Northam has signed a bill into law that will prohibit anyone under the age of 21 from purchasing tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. Although ACS CAN applauds our state legislators for their desire to prevent kids from using tobacco, we did not support this legislation.
Tobacco 21: Addressing the Right Problem the Wrong Way
The Richmond Times Dispatch printed an opEd written by Brian Donohue, director of government relations in Virginia, that addresses ACS CAN's concerns with the recently proposed state legislation that would increase the age to buy tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from 18 to 21.
