New York Times -- "With a Son in Remission, Family Looks for Coverage"

April 21, 2009
Texas family featured in a New York Times article illustrates why ACS CAN is fighting for health care reform
In many cases, we already know what we need to do to fight cancer. But if people don't have access to lifesaving screenings and treatments, what good are they? If we can fix the system for cancer patients, we can fix it for virtually anyone who needs to access health care.

Danna and Russ Walker from Humble, Texas exemplify the tremendous need for health care reform in this country. They are a hardworking couple who have fallen on hard times because of the down economy. But their son Jake needs follow-up treatment to make sure he stays in remission after a stage III testicular cancer diagnosis at the age of 17. The Walkers are just one reason why ACS CAN has made health care reform a top priority. Kevin Sack at the New York Times shares their story. Check it out: http://tinyurl.com/cvzmoz
