New ad campaign opposes proposed changes to Medicare

January 24, 2019

“When you limit drug therapies, you threaten lives.”

This headline leads a new ad campaign launched by ACS CAN and nearly 60 other organizations that include patient and provider groups.

The ad campaign calls on Congress and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to stop proposed policy changes to Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit that could allow plans to limit patients’ access to certain drugs that they need.

“Allowing health plans to delay access to potentially lifesaving medications interferes with a doctor-recommended course of treatment and poses significant and potentially life-threatening risks for patients,” said ACS CAN President Chris Hansen.

The proposed changes if finalized could have devastating consequences for cancer patients on Medicare by delaying patients’ access to cutting edge cancer drugs.
