Oregon City Supports Statewide Ban on Flavored Tobacco Products
OREGON CITY, OR — Oregon City has taken a stand against flavored tobacco products by passing a resolution on Wednesday that calls for an end to their sale.
Voters in Haines, Alaska passed a ballot measure ratifying the comprehensive smoke-free ordinance passed by their Assembly last year. The ordinance, which includes bars and private clubs, will go into effect by January 4, 2010.
In Juneau, Alaska, voters passed a ballot measure to increase the city's tobacco tax from 30 cents to $1 per pack and imposed a 45 percent tax on the wholesale price of other tobacco products. The increases take effect on January 1, 2010.
