The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) released a new report today, Cancer in Medicare: An American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Chartbook , to illustrate how the Medicare program serves patients across the cancer continuum as well as specific public policy recommendations to improve and strengthen the program. Given an individual’s cancer risk increases with age, Medicare plays a key role in reducing suffering and death from cancer.

Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit issued a decision in the case of Haller v. Health and Human Services (HHS) upholding the U.S. District Court’s ruling preserving the provisions of the No Surprises Act (NSA) that prohibit patients from receiving surprise bills for unexpected out-of-network costs. However, the case was remanded back to the lower court for reconsideration of the issue of payments between providers and insurers.
