The 2017 Legislature has adjourned without passing a tax increase on cigarettes.

AUGUSTA – MAY 30 – Today, cancer survivors, youth advocates and medical professionals from across the state gathered in Augusta, alongside public health advocacy groups, to urge the legislature to support policies that would help fight cancer in Maine.

The Legislature passed a bill to implement a $1.50 price increase to each pack of cigarettes sold in Oklahoma.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs advanced legislation today that would make all Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities smoke-free.

The Village of Maywood recently approved an ordinance to raise the minimum age of tobacco sales to 21 years old. Nico Probst, Chicago government relations director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, released the following statement in response:

This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) took three actions that will likely undermine evidence-based cancer prevention efforts.
