The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas(CPRIT) announced its first round of cancer research grants. CPRIT's mission is to expedite innovation and commercialization in the area of cancer research and to enhance access to evidence-based prevention programs and services throughout Texas. ACS CAN volunteers led the legislative and ballot campaigns that resulted in the establishment of the Institute and the authorization of $3 billion in bonds to fund groundbreaking cancer research, prevention programs and services.
After months of delay and hard negotiations, Congress has finally passed a funding bill! The bill includes a small increase for cancer research and prevention programs.
