Letter: Bill supports biomarker testing

Some say private.ξ Some say public.ξ ACS CAN says to make sure it's a patient plan.
We've all seen the latest news coverage that a public health insurance option could now be falling by the wayside.ξ With so much attention toward public plans and private plans, we thought now was a good time to keep the focus where it should be - on a patient plan.
A key focus for health care reform should be ensuring that health care, and especially cancer care, is available and affordable to all Americans and all cancer patients.ξ That means getting rid of lifetime maximums and reducing out of pocket expenses for patients.ξ Make sure that women can afford a mammogram.ξ Make sure men can afford a colonoscopy.ξ And make sure everyone - all patients - can afford the coverage they need if they hear those three dreaded words, "you have cancer."
With all the talking (and screaming) about public and private, let's not forget the patient.
