The May 20 "Surviving the System" Lobby Day is underway. Cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers are meeting with Members and their staff right NOW.
At 8:30 this morning, the 27 cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers were given a great send off from Dan Smith, president of ACS CAN, on their way to Capitol Hill. ACS CAN along with the patients, survivors, and caregivers are taking the message that the time for health care reform is NOW. The patients are telling their Members that we need adequate, affordable health insurance coverage that Americans can count on. In addition to ACS CAN patients and caregivers meeting their elected officials, AARP, Consumer's Union, and SEIU joined us in bringing patients from across the country to the nationÈs capital to demand action on comprehensive health care reform this year. This photo captured all the participants from ACS CAN, AARP, Consumer's Union, and SEIU as they prepared for today's events.
As part of the May 20 event, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro hosted the ACS CAN press briefing in the Capitol building. We were pleased to be joined by Congresswoman DeLauro and other members of Congress Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Congressman Mike Rogers, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Congressman Bobby Rush, and Congressman Parker Griffith. More to come... as we hear the latest from our cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers about their meetings.
