Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in our state. Every year, thousands of families are impacted by cancer and other serious illnesses caused by tobacco use, with 33.8% of cancer deaths caused by smoking in Indiana alone. Fact-based tobacco prevention and cessation programs are proven to help reduce smoking rates, prevent youth tobacco use, and support individuals who want to quit. ACS CAN Indiana is advocating for an increase in our state's investment to $15 million annually, so our state can strengthen successful programs, reduce cancer risk, and create a healthier future for all residents.
