Losing his wife, Betsy, to metastatic cervical cancer was devastating, losing his partner of 26 years. But the hardest thing was the realization “my children would live longer without their mother had." At the time, there is no known cure for metastatic cervical cancer. That insight was crushing and demoralizing. Something had to be done to make a real impact.

After the fog of grief started to lift, a passion for joining the fight against cancer was ignited. Betsy’s battle, her story, needed to be heard. The belief nobody should have to hear, “There is no cure" drives the efforts daily to make a difference in the fight against cancer," All this work can't bring Betsy back, but advocacy alongside other passionate ACS CAN volunteers and staff will save so many others. Advocates throughout the country are making a difference toward ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
