The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) and the American Heart Association (AHA) are joining forces to support a proposed ballot initiative allowing voters to decide whether Florida should expand Medicaid. Florida Decides Healthcare, the coalition leading the signature collection efforts, is determined to collect the million signatures needed to add a question on the 2028 ballot asking voters whether the state should expand Medicaid.

As lawmakers head into the 2026 legislative session, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) urges legislators to prioritize passing legislation to ease the burden of cancer on Floridians and expand access to care.

Vaccinations are an essential part of care for people with cancer and their families. ACS CAN advocates for science-based policies that improve access to vaccines that prevent and treat cancer as well as protect people living with cancer.

“For cancer patients, these health care tax credits are a lifeline that enables access to timely, life-saving treatments,” said Susan Harbin, Senior Government Relations Director for ACS CAN Florida and recent Field Government Relations Professional of the Year.
