Three-time Cervical Cancer Survivor Highlights Importance of Screening during Awareness Event at Las Vegas Sign

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – January 23, 2024 – A Las Vegas resident, three-time cervical cancer survivor, and volunteer with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) joined dozens of other survivors, patients, and Clark County Commissioners at the official lighting of the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign, Tuesday afternoon. The sign will shine teal and white in honor of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Se espera que mañana el comité de Salud, Educación, Labor y Pensiones (HELP, por sus siglas en inglés) del Senado de EE. UU. revise la Ley sobre las Pruebas para que las Comunidades Reciban con Prontitud y Equidad los Servicios Necesarios para el Cáncer (SCREENS for Cancer Act, en inglés), S. 1840.

American Cancer Society and ACS CAN Applaud Announcement of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Nomination

Today, President Biden nominated Dr. Mandy Cohen to serve as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The role is critical to leading data collection and implementing evidence-based interventions that reduce cancer incidence and mortality including informing state tobacco prevention and cessation programs and preventive screening programs like the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program that improves early detection.
