Congress: Increase cancer research funding and help save more lives from cancer

Fight Cancer Together

Please support a $3 billion increase for the National Institutes of Health and a $500 million increase for the National Cancer Institute

We know that cutting-edge cancer research at the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute is leading to improved treatments that have the potential to improve and even save the lives of millions of Americans. Because of past federal investment we are seeing progress.

  • The cancer death rate declined 29% from 1991 to 2017 with an astounding one-year drop of 2.2% from 2016 to 2017.

  • Yet, cancer is still the nation’s second-leading cause of death and the progress is uneven.
  • In order to ensure progress continues and more lives are saved, we need sustained investments at the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has upended our entire society including cancer research and clinical trials. Without federal assistance we are in danger of losing progress against the disease. We are calling on Congress to maintain the momentum and to increase funding for lifesaving cancer research. With your help, we can continue advancing cures and saving lives
